iTunes Review

"Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas" opens the solo debut of the Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers with twangy tones rubbing against the grain of an anthemic modern-rock ballad. Throughout Flamingo, contrasts provide palpable tension while retaining some of the Springsteen worship that peppered the Killers' sophomore album Sam's Town. Jenny Lewis sings harmonies on the theatrical sounding "Hard Enough" where her warm and dusty vocals run perpendicular to Flowers' icy lulls. "Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts" sounds highly inspired by Born to Run-era The Boss until the tune's bridge breaks down into a bout of post-punk ambience, but both worlds collide nicely at the end, making for a triumphant conclusion. Standout tune "Crossfire" is a perfect example of Flamingo's formula: start off with a melodramatic verse that climbs and claws its way to a fist-pumping chorus while scattering Americana appreciation like the shells of sunflower seeds. Try walking away from bonus tracks like the countrified "The Clock Was Tickin'" or the more Killers-esque "Jacksonville" without a memorable melody stuck in your head.

A Talent for the Ages

Brandon Flowers proves once again why he is one of the greatest talents in ages on this album. His wonderful, magnetic falsetto and lower register prove his showmanship. What's more, the production is careful and flourishing with high caliber work.
This is clearly an excellent album. It is delicate and much more gentle then most of his previous work but reflects brightly the talent of one excellent performer/writer. The fascinating thing here is that the album revolves around the All American subject of faith in a God who is on your side. See tracks: Crossfire, Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts, On The Floor, Swallow It, Only The Young, Magdelina, and Right Behind You.

How could you not buy this?

I don't even know if there are words to describe how good this album is.

Brandon Flowers is a God Amongst Men

When I hear Brandon was doing a solo album, I was a bit skeptic. What would he produce? How will his solo album sound? Will it live up to past records he has made with the Killers? I finally got around to listening to the previews, and I liked what I heard so I gave the whole album a shot. Typically I don't buy whole albums because I end up regretting it if I only like several songs... but once I heard Flamingo I could not believe my ears. Brandon Flowers has added elements of country, rock, and folk to repertoire of pop-rock/alternative prowess, and it fits PERFECTLY. I cannot recommend this album high enough, especially to those who have been fans of the Killers for some time. Get this album, listen to it, and you will be blown away. Truly, Brandon Flowers is a God Amongst Men.
