Album Review

Fleetwood Mac's first live album finds the band at its popular height, pumping out hit after hit. To its credit, the group nevertheless puts out: Mick Fleetwood drums like a demon and Lindsey Buckingham plays fiercely. All the hits you'd expect are here, spread across two discs, and there's also a charming backstage rendition of the Beach Boys' "Farmer's Daughter."

The Fire Never Fades

This is a great live album, featuring live versions from the Fleetwood Mac Tour, Rumours Tour & Tusk Tour. Sometimes I wish this album could have picked different versions of songs, or stuck with one tour. Because of this, it's hard to compare this to The Dance. But there are great songs on here, and the live tours during this time period were the best tours of Fleetwood Mac's lifetime.

If you haven't heard an earlier version of Rhiannon, this is a great place to get it. Also, the new song Fireflies by Stevie is very, very good. Also by Stevie is a soft and touching version of Landslide from London.

It's great that this album has Don't Let Me Down Again, which is a Buckingham Nicks track. Great duet with Lindsey and Stevie! The entire band also does a nice duet on Farmer's Daughter.

Awesome

If u like the Mac this is IT....with the hits.

Fleetwood Mac LIVE!!!

I love THE DANCE. It's a great CD and concert, but it was a little too polished. The side musicians and back-up singers do a fantastic job of re-creating Fleetwood Mac's best songs. However, if you want to hear what the band sounded like live at the height of their popularity, this is a must-buy. It's basically the band, with an extra guitar player, with minimal over-dubbing. Several highlights here, including my personal favorite live versions of "Rhiannon" and "I'm So Afraid", along with many other hits, and four deeper cuts (McVie's "One More Night", Nicks' hidden gem "Fireflies", and a cover of Brian Wilson's "The Farmer's Daughter" along with a fantastic version of Buckingham Nicks' "Don't Let Me Down Again"). HIghly recommended.

While most bands undergo a number of changes over the course of their careers, few groups experienced such radical stylistic changes as Fleetwood Mac. Initially conceived as a hard-edged British blues combo in the late '60s, the band gradually evolved into a polished pop/rock act over the course of a decade. Throughout all of their incarnations, the only consistent members of Fleetwood Mac were drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie — the rhythm section that provided the band with its...
