Album Review
Flight Muzik is the debut release from Chicago-based electronic artist Karlis Griffin, aka DJ Diamond. Signed to Mike Paradinas' Planet Mu imprint, Griffin is a much lauded footwork producer among the label’s highly impressive roster. Effortlessly blending melodic and glitchy techno stabs with rhythmic and broken basslines, Flight Muzik is a sonically intriguing record with layers of intrinsic sounds and emotion that will leave the listener enthralled.

Footwork!!
I was wondering when Planet Mu would release another Footwork artist, having already introduced the world to the likes of DJ Nate, DJ Spinn, and DJ Roc. I'm so glad this is starting to get the exposure it is, because this is the future of dance music here.
As for the album, I can definitely tell that DJ Diamond has improved from his earlier work. Every song is perfectly EQ'ed, and there even seems to be some new ideas being explored sonically with songs like Pop the Trunk, Vibe, but he still retains that dark heavy sound known in footwork with tracks like Torture Rack (my personal favorite from the album) and Horns. I'm sure DJ's all over Chi-Town are bumping these tracks, cuz they're straight crack!!!
