David Loris: a man with a voice for each of us
This music is complicated but seems catchingly easy to follow. The lyrics are ironic and insightful. The range of this album is incredible. From some of the most beautiful, slow and thoughtful pieces like Lila and Floating Away, both obviously directed at someone close, to playful poking at those of us who would like to escape it all by heading to down to Mexico, David is showing some of his range. He seems to be talking to all of us in this work. His theatre music, not on the album, is hinted at in a few places., Also, there is something of the Beatles in its use of string instruments alongside guitar, drums, etc. Wonderful album.

This is the kind of album you can put on no matter your mood and covers a lot of different sounds and paces. I didn’t know it was possible to be so relaxed and so stimulating at the same time, but Loris somehow manages to do it. I can’t get enough of his tunes – some are catchy and make you happy whiles others just take you on a beautiful and dreamy journey. My two personal favorites are So Familiar and Floating Away. But each song is incredible in its own right. Totally recommend!
