Ahhh...
I'm of huge fan of Watt and Nels so when I hear of a new release featuring both of them I jump at it. Simply put, "Floored By Four" is worth a listen if you are admirers of these musicians, but if it was more the four bucks, I would have been upset.
You'll Like This If You Like This Kind Of Stuff
Ranges from funk to noise, from jazz to soul. Sounds at times like Zappa, King Crimson, Booker T & the MGs, and Sonic Youth, sometimes all at the same time. Some will find it too artsy, some will find it too noisy. But it's always surprising. And hey, I'll buy everything Mike Watt touches, just on principle. Call it free jazz, call it noise, whatever: Floored By Four is complicated improvisational music for a complicated, improvisational time. Performed by Nels Cline (guitar), Mike Watt (bass), Yuka Honda (keyboards, knob-fiddling), and Dougie Bowne on drums.
