Customer Reviews
Guess where it's from.
Once again, bloc party has created an amazing, super-catchy, and hard to explain song. This is such an improvement upon "A Weekend in the City". It may be more pop than that album, but it definitely retains that bloc party energy coupled with a sense of desperation. But, this is just another example of where good music is coming from: the UK. Talented, innovative American artists are in such a short supply, lately, but I digress; this review is about "Flux." The album version is a 6, yes 6, star song. None of the remixes even compare. But here they are: 2. JFK Remix- This is not a song you can listen to in the car, on the computer, etc. It would, however, be amazing when you aren't sober. 3. Tomboy's Cowbell Treat- Adds nothing to the song. And where was the cowbell? 4. G.B. Magnetism- Probably the best remix on here. It adds a more futuristic sound, but it's not as danceable. 5. Punx Soundcheck "tenebrae"- Has a tight intro, but this takes the song in a completely different direction. There's a bit too much time with random beats and no vocals.
J'adore Bloc Party!
i don't know how they do it. This song simply sounds great form the first time you hear it. Makes you wanna dance. This really has got to be one of the best bands around!
A Solid Experiment
This song shocked me at first. It is unlike anything else Bloc Party has done. At first, it sounds like a remix of a Bloc Party song, not an original. It features doctored vocals, an electronic drum loop, and a jagged synthesizer, as well as atmospheric guitars that really make the song soar. If I could compare it to any other popular song, I would consider this a more techno, Bloc Party version of The Killers' "Mr. Brightside". For those of you who may fear that this is a new direction Bloc Party is taking, do not fear, because lead singer Kele Okereke has stated that this is merely an experiment. And this is a thoroughly enjoyable experiment.
