Excellent Tribute!!!!
Having been a huge fan of Ozzy, I was skeptical of this attempt. But was suprisingly blown away! Bob Kulick has produced a great tribute to Ozzy. Stand outs are definetly Tim "RIPPER" Owens MR. CROWLEY. Yngwie Malmsteen makes the guitar parts his own, and it's refreashing to hear. "RIPPER" takes this song vocally to new heights. Other great attempts here are BARK AT THE MOON, CRAZY TRAIN and OVER THE MOUNTAIN. If your an Ozzy fan, or if your just ready to hear these tunes in a fresh new light, this album is a must!
Long live the blizz
An album that was interesting... Great songs to cover. The apex of the album is Mr. Crowley, due in large part to the wicked set of pipes on Ripper Owens. Yngwie's excessive liberties do detract from the true brilliant element of the song, the marvelous guitar playing of Randy Rhoads. That being said, it is nice to hear Ozzy's lyrics unobscured by overtly unnecessary pinch harmonics and feedback. The classics sound as they should: Classic. All in all though, this album is worth the price. Long live the Blizz
9 out of 12 songs "classic" Ozzy, the remainder the pits
As a metal head, i find it telling that 9 of the 12 songs covered on this album are from Ozzy's first three solo albums. While Ozzy is the "everyman" of metal (probably a key to his enduring success), he has been coasting on fumes for the better part of two decades. He hasn't done anything truly original since Bark at the Moon and, while there's no doubt that Zack can shred, he isn't half the player that Randy and Jake were.
