Forget the Storm

Forget the Storm

After an eight-year gap between albums, Tyler Hilton's third studio full-length, Forget the Storm, finds the singer, now in his late 20s, sounding more comfortable in his own skin than ever before. From his weathered vocals on the gritty opener, “Kicking My Heels,” Hilton sings with the earnest self-deprecation of a man who understands that in this business, dues are never paid in full. The inward jabs continue in the following “Prince of Nothing Charming,” where he confesses his shortcomings and codependence in an unbalanced relationship; it's a towering adult alternative hit in waiting. “Loaded Gun” turns up the tempos and vintage guitar distortion to make a standout roots-rocker, before “Jenny” shows that Hilton can still pen a solid love song.
