If you've ever loved California
This album is a true tribute to the golden state. Definitely a must have.
Sun-splashed, Thoughtful, Enduring!
This is very cool music! Sunny and easy to listen to, yet also thoughtful and complex. A great soundtrack for life: easy-going days, hanging with friends, after work commute, shuffle playlist for running, etc… I like the frequent shifts in tempo; they make these songs more interesting and durable than much of the Indie/singer-songwriter categories. I grew up on the central coast of California. Man, does this sound ever capture the sun-splashed, SLO-going rhythms of that unique slice of geography. Actually, as much as I like this album, I do think that I like early Western States albums better. If you haven't, check out the self-titled debut. Songs like Power Lines and Rows or Homes are more interesting lyrically to me than many of these. My personal fav is Magic Trick, which rocks a bit more than other WSM tunes. Last word: I am simply grateful and happy to have this music in my life.
