Album Review
For her fifth album, Jeanne Newhall conveys the romance of Paris. The album is called French Cafe, and her inspired piano arrangements include charming interpretations of movie themes (from Dr. Zhivago, The Year of Living Dangerously, and Moulin Rouge), classical pieces (Saint Saens's "The Swan," Faure's "Pavane," etc.) and popular pieces such as Dan Fogelberg's "Paris Nocturne" and Michel LeGrand's "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" Great arrangements and music
Great piano playing by Jeanne Newhall. You can feel the sensitivity and the mood she wants to convey. Enjoy the finesse and savoir faire with her piano arrangements. Movies themes, classical pieces. My favorite is Michel LeGrand's "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" Can't fly to Paris? Buy this CD...
Just a correction...
It's a beautiful piece, but I would quibble with labeling track 11 the theme from "The Year of Living Dangerously" (especially since you can't even by the "theme" with the soundtrack album on iTunes). The track is actually "L'enfant" by Vangelis from Opera Savage, and was later included in the film "The Year of Living Dangerously." Perhaps an annotation would be helpful since people searching for the actual piece "L'enfant" would not be able to locate this lovely arrangement with a search for the song's proper title.
