Album Review

Gina G. may want to be Madonna, but her admiration for the queen of dance-pop is so unabashed and affectionate, it's hard not to be suckered into her debut, Fresh. From its self-consciously controversial cover art, featuring Gina smeared in chocolate, to its relentless barrage of bouncy, up-tempo dance-pop, Fresh is an homage to early Madonna, and while it doesn't quite have the same level of songcraft as "Holiday" or "Borderline," it is undeniably infectious. The hit single "Oooh Ah ... Just a Little Bit" is a lightweight piece of fluff that nevertheless sticks in your head — it's a great guilty pleasure, as is the rest of the album. Though it hearkens back to the mid-'80s, its bright, cheery, and unabashedly lightweight pop made Fresh sound fresh in the late '90s.

Eurovision Song

i used to look at the international charts in billboard magazine back in the day and i remember seeing the song "Just A Little Bit...Ooh Aah" by Gina G being number 1 on the british chart. Well, it wasn't available here in the states yet so i purchased a copy from over there (which is what i usually did,,just couldn't wait i guess) and was well pleased with what i heard.the song itself represented Great Britain in the Eurovision song contest. The cd single version of "Just a Little Bit" actually says "Eurovision Version" . I was impressed that Gina G. released more songs that charted: Fresh, Ti Amo and I Belong To You. Over all, a pretty nice project. Thumbs Up!!!

Ti Amo?

I remember driving in NJ and hearing the ooh aah song on 95.5 WPLJ Hearing it now, with it's catchy rhythms it will take you back to 1997. Love the song, bought the album and fell in love with Gina G.
