Great Show -Great Recording
Saw the show on Broadway, and couldn't wait for the cast album. This is a great recording -the sound is clear and "live". A quick look at the CD booklet shows a full, real orchestra. No synths. Even if you have the earlier concert recording, this one is a must for your collection. Lots of new material and great performances. If you don't have either recording and need to choose only one, this is the one to get.
A Top Rate Recording...
This cast recording of an obviously amazing musical is brilliant to say the least. From the fun wordplay and rythmsof "The Frogs" to the beautiful "Ariadne" to the hilarious "Hades" to the somber, wonderfully gorgeous "It's Only a Play".
Sooooo GOOD ( I want a revival cast)
I haven't seen this show, though my friend and I are trying to make a revival cast, but I think the soundtrack is great. "Hades" is, like, the best song ever..... and Hymm to Dionysos, I Love to Travel, and It's Only a Play are also very good songs. This show was only on Broadway for about 3 months, which is not fair in my opinion. I wish I could have seen the show, even off-Broadway. Great album...... quite, quite. "If they got a glimpse of Hades, they'd be racing to the grave..."
