Album Review

The six songs found on the Rosewood Thieves' debut, From the Decker House, are like old American postcards or love letters never sent. The countrified indie rock mix is an impressive look into the world of singer/songwriter Erick Jordan. He was just barely 20 when he composed these tracks, and his golden-hued touch is refreshing and uncomplicated among the current pack of new-millennium revivalists. With his heart on his sleeve, Jordan doesn't lose himself while honoring his influences, and songs such as the knee-slappin' honky tonk of "Diamond Ring" and the country-tinged day-tripper "Doctor" channel Jordan's sweet sincerity. "Lonesome Road" is another song like that; acoustic guitars delicately waltz around Jordan's warm hum while vocalese veteran Bob Dorough adds a bit of bounce on the piano for a summery clap-along. From the Decker House also includes performances by Otto Hauser (Devendra Banhart), Andy Cabic (Vetiver), Mike Daly (Whiskeytown), and Blake Hazard (the Submarines). Such an all-star cast adds to the Rosewood Thieves' playful innocence. Jordan taps into that exactly while giving his best stiff upper lip on the breakup number "Back Home to Harlem." The Rosewood Thieves succeed their first time out. The fundamentals of rock music go a long way here, and that's what makes From the Decker House the understated beauty that it is.

Impressive Debut EP

This band is for real ... i heard them 3 years ago on satellite radio and have been hooked ever since ... 60's brit pop sensibilities and american roots influence all blended together deliciously like the perfect strawberry milkshake ... Back Home To Harlem is my personal favorite and surprisingly funky, funky ...

Band to Watch!

If you haven't heard the "From The Decker House" EP we highly suggest that you listen to it immediately! Well, since you're here you might as well!! One of the best sounds that I have heard in a while! The Rosewood Thieves are a band on the brink; the combination of Erick Jordan's velvet sneer channelin' the ghosts of graveyards past and a rhythm section that is totterin' on the brink of a poison headache. These guys have a mystical sound of that mixed magic medicine of Ray Davies, John Lennon, Marc Bolan, Neil Young & Bob Dylan. Yup, you may have heard of some of those guys. These guys are that good! While you’re at it make sure to check out their other EP “Lonesome” too!! Top Tracks: Los Angeles, Back Home To Harlem, Cold in the Country, Diamond Ring

An awesome band

The Rosewood Thieves capture a sound I thought was lost forever, while you can hear thier influences Beatles, Dylan, The Band thier sound is distinctly original. The lead track "Los Angeles" I heard was used on Grey's Anatomy! Look forward to the next release.

The Rosewood Thieves' build upon the sincerity of John Lennon's solo work and the poetic earnestness of Bob Dylan and the Band for their own plain-spoken indie rock sound. Jordan and a high school acquaintance, organ player Mackenzie Vernacchio inked a deal with V2 within a year, and readied themselves for the Rosewood Thieves' debut.
