More Great Jazz/Funk From NIls!
Bought the physical version of this album because there wasn't any information about whether a portion of iTunes purchase price would go to Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontiéres), which the album is intended to benefit. Not as many "get up to get down" tunes as License To Funk album from NIls Landgren Funk Unit, but some amazing bluesy and laidback jazz melodies. Funk for Life and Finish What You Started stand out as the big funk numbers, while The Brown Blues is a hard charging sax centered tune that will have you turning up the volume and rolling down the windows. Dry and Never Judge are both soulful laments laden with opportunities for introspection and self-realization. This is more than just good jazz! This album represents just a part of the Funk for Life Project...iTunes would do well to include the liner notes.
