Masterpiece Soundtrack From A Masterpiece Film
This eleventh album from Barbra Streisand accompanies her masterful film debut in "Funny Girl." Parallel lines would be drawn between the movie's subject Fanny Brice and Barbra and those lines suggest why Barbra gave such a strong performance in the film, starring in the Broadway version didn't hurt much either. Because of the parallel lines drawn between Fanny and Barbra some of Barbra's hit songs were made part of the soundtrack, especially the expanded "People" and the revised "My Man" which was made famous by...Fanny. "Don't Rain On My Parade" will always be associated with Barbra, it is considered to be the definitive version. "I'm The Greatest Star" is autobiographical and Barbra delivers the song with unequaled passion, "His Love Makes Me Beautiful" is one of the most funny sequences ever filmed and the song makes a little less sense here without the visual aid but it's still terrific. Overall this album is what it is, a soundtrack album complete with bits of dialogue and the songs are presented in order of film appearance. The remastering of this cd is excellent.

I love this musical! the move is terrific! The character fanny has a great voice. if the moive was on itunes i would rate it 5 stars was well. i think the songs have more meaning if you watch the moive!
