Your lucky you have the chance to buy the songs you want in iTunes. I bought it in the real world :p Anyway, the Eraser remixes are worth the buy and the Self Destructions also. Thats really it, real fans will buy it anyway because NIИ is orgasmic.

Maybe It Is Just Me Or All NIИ Remix Albums This Way?

You have to let them grow on you.The first time I heard this remix album I disliked it and only liked Hurt (Quiet). I was not used to the more Industrial side of Trent Reznor's music (well it is because he is the reason I began to listen to Industrial). But once have the patience to listen to the entire thing, you realize how amazing the songs are. They reconstruct the original songs of The Downward Spiral and impress you by showing you a new side of them. These remixes don't ruin the original songs. The Mr. Self Destruct remixes are standouts, along with the Hurt remix. The song created by Aphex Twin (ATHOIA) is cool, but like all the other songs, you must give it a chance. If you are a fan who only buys the studio albums, please check out the remixes. In fact check out all the Halos. P.S. Am I the only person who noticed that a part of track 10 was Mr. Self Destruct played backwards?

Definitely for collectors and avid fans

Anyone who hasn't heard The Downward Spiral, be warned. This is not a full length album of completely original material. Traditionally, each Nine Inch Nails album is orbited by a few shorter, somewhat low profile releases, usually loaded with remixes of select LP tracks (i.e. Broken is later on accompanied by Fixed, respectively known as Halo Five and Halo Six). That said, don't expect this record to be a stand alone release. The artwork is less extensive and you'll find that some of the songs are remixed up to 3 times before the conclusion on the record, which can be tiring to some listeners. However, the remixes themselves still continue the particularly abrasive and organic approach from The Downward Spiral. Tinny guitar, distorted vocals, booming (live?) drums, natural sounds (lots of wind, especially on Hurt) and, if you listen carefully, animal sounds. From my perspective, the real stand-out tracks on this CD are Piggy, At The Heart of It All (contributed by Aphex Twin), The Beauty of Being Numb, Hurt (Quiet) and Downward Spiral (The Bottom). Overall, this is a pretty conclusive look at the less explored and played out songs from The Downward Spiral, which I think makes the original LP even more compelling. However, if you're looking for remixes of the singles, check out Closer to God and March of the Pigs. This, on the other hand, is meant to be heard as a companion disc to the Downward Spiral. It's a series of experimental and interesting after-thoughts. I found this to be an enjoyable listen, and probably the most inventive of NIN remix CDs.

Biography

Formed: 1989 in Cleveland, OH

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Nine Inch Nails were the most popular industrial group ever and were largely responsible for bringing the music to a mass audience. It isn't really accurate to call NIN a group; the only official member is singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Trent Reznor, who always remained solely responsible for NIN's musical direction (he was, however, supported in concert by a regular backing band). Unlike the vast majority of industrial artists, Reznor wrote melodic, traditionally structured songs where lyrics...
