Great comp, found this review from a blog...
The 2nd in a series showcasing the next generation of talent within the genre, FSOR is a one of a kind showcasing not only the best from Jamaica, but across the world. DubShot Records in collaboration with actress Mena Suvari have uncovered the best in left of center reggae songs that encompass the evolution of a genre that was popularized in the 70’s and 80’s. With a focus on dub and surf reggae, the release also showcases dancehall and roots reggae as well as jam band’s influencing the genre.
The Future Sound of Reggae is a compliation series committed to expanding musical horizons by releasing a broad cross-section of Caribbean-influenced music from around the globe. Actress Mena Suvari and DubShot Records have joined forces to spread positive music from different regions. Most known for her many film and television appearances, Los Angeles based actress Mena Suvari has long been an admirer of Jamaican music and its culture. As a result of this passion for the genre and its birthplace, Mena has constructed a diverse network of singers, musicians, DJs, and producers to showcase. DubShot Records is a New York based hybrid label that showcases an evolution in musical styles. Featuring prominent artist’s inspired by (or derived from) Caribbean sounds, the label has solidified an international movement that has been in existence for decades, yet remains under the radar. FSOR Vol. 2, has blended an eclectic mix of styles from the indigenous genres of Dub, Roots, and Dancehall to foreign influenced Hip Hop, Electro, and Rock. The compilation has left no stone unturned.
Get it for the DUB!!!
This album is definitely a fun listen, I liked the Dub stuff the best! The tracks from Prince Polo, Dread Bass Sound System, and Transdub Massiv were my favorites. Overall its unlike any other reggae compilation I have ever heard before, and thats a good thing. I dont think I would have ever heard of half of these artists if it werent for this, and I will definitely support other releases as a result. After buying the album, I actually decided to pick up Vol. 1 which is just as heavy, and worth more than the 5.99 album price.
ok
This is alright, I found myself enjoying some and confused about the rest. Can't make a decision as of right now...
