The very definition of Peter Gabriel: different.

It seems as though the last reviewer didn't know what he was talking about, or so it seemed. He had me at "It has nearly no musical or artistic relation to the original." Sorry to break it to ya this way, sir, but if you knew Mr. Gabriel's work at all, you'd realize that's the whole point. Peter has always found a way of reinventing his work, and has always had the gift of looking at things outside of the normal spectrum. I can honestly say I'm in love with the remix. Big "thumbs-up" to the guy that created this. It gives Kate Bush's voice room to blossom here, and it's simply stunning. Nothing but positive feedback.

Or let me put it this way: Those of you looking for another incarnation of "So," then click out of here. But those of you who admire this man's work for everything it is, then buy now.

Indaba Remix

Very Nice. Great remix!

This is a joke? Right?

The cover art selected for this "remix" could not be more appropriate. After listening to this monotonous mess of electronic duple meter melodies, I'd be holding my head in disgust if I were the original artist. It has nearly no musical or artistic relation to the original. I am all in favor of remixes and covers but this is absurd. Check out Dave Matthews live cover of Sledgehammer if you want to hear something pretty cool.

With respect to the comments of Dulcimerkid, better examples of Peter Gabriel's reinvented work would be the Massive Attack version of Games Without Frontiers and the more recent David Byrne rendition of I Don't Remember. Games Without Frontiers is a cornerstone piece of Peter Gabriel's work. It contains the characteristic, ominous, dark, yet melodic qualities for which Peter is a master. I really don't think it was a musical piece intended for an 80s era dance bar. Peter left that for Phil Collins and Genesis.

As the leader of Genesis in the early '70s, Peter Gabriel helped move progressive rock to new levels of theatricality. He was no less ambitious as a solo artist, but he was more subtle in his methods. With his first eponymous solo album in 1977, he began exploring darker, more cerebral territory, incorporating avant-garde, electronic, and worldbeat influences into his music. The record, as well as its two similarly titled successors, established Gabriel as a critically acclaimed cult artist, and...
