iTunes Review

Following the divisive debacle of Load, Metallica used Garage Inc. as an affirmation that they remained one with their fans: diehard followers of loud music in all its forms. While Garage Inc reveals several standard issue influences (Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy), the album is a crucial reminder that Metallica were also born of punk rock (Misfits, Discharge) and New Wave of British Heavy Metal (Diamond Head, Mercyful Fate). James Hetfield has a blast playing with the menacing croons of Nick Cave and Danzig on covers of The Misfits (“Die, Die My Darling) and The Bad Seeds (“Loverman”), while the volcanic grooves of “Sabbra Cadabra” proved that Metallica was one of the few bands who could shoulder Black Sabbath’s weight. When the four-piece plays their favorite songs, the results are blistering, and Metallica plays “It’s Electric,” “Mercyful Fate,” and “Whiskey In the Jar” like they wrote the songs in their own blood. Don’t miss the bonus tracks, which compile all of the band’s covers albums: The $5.98 E.P. (1987), Garage Days Revsisted (1984), and the truly awesome all-Motorhead tribute Motorheadache (1995). Herein is a hymnal for the heavy metal faithful.

Customer Reviews

Excellent on so many levels

I love ALL of Metallica's songs from their early work and even their latest. I am not one of those kind of persons who bash Metallica just because they changed their sound. In fact I support the change. I would have stopped listening to Metallica after Kill 'em All if every later album sounded exactly like it. But onto this album. Even though they are all cover songs, They all sound like they were originally written by Metallica. The vocals fit and the guitar work is just masterful. My personal favorite and probably almost everyone else's favorite is Whiskey In the Jar. It is a wonderful cover of a classic Irish folk ballad. I like the sound they gave to Blitzkreig as well. It was like they were moving back to their roots because it sounds like it came from the Kill 'em All album. Kinda makes you feel nostalgic. On a closing note I would just like to remind some retards out there that EVERY SONG on this album was COVERED BY METALLICA. None were stolen. Some people really should read the album description before wriing angry reviews.

!!!!!

Biography

Formed: 1981 in Los Angeles, CA

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Metallica was easily the best, most influential heavy metal band of the '80s. Responsible for bringing the genre back to Earth, the bandmates looked and talked like they were from the street, shunning the usual rockstar games of metal musicians during the early '80s. Metallica also expanded the limits of thrash, using speed and volume not for their own sake, but to enhance their intricately structured compositions. The release of 1983's Kill 'Em All marked the beginning of the legitimization of heavy...
