Jonny is back and better than ever!!!!
Jonny proves he is no novelty or 3 hit wonder with his latest masterpiece collection, Gays Gone Wild. The varied styles and clean sound are cherries on top of the magnificent, never tongue in cheek, for reals great tracks that make up this album. Every track will have you moving to the beat. Even if you're not into house, techno or elctroclash, there's something for you here. The balad "Don't Fall In Love With a Homo" is one of my personal favorites, as well as "We Like to Freak", with their infectuous lyrics, you'll want all your friends or "frans" as Jonny calls his friends/fans to have a listen. A little something for the fellas that like the fellas!
Finally we get the answer to that eternal '80s pop question "Jonny are you queer?", and turns out he's gayer than you'd ever hope. The GLBT community now has its own electro pop star, and this round finds McGovern concentrating on the dance beats as hard as the funny lyrics. There's a uniformity and full concept to GAYS GONE WILD that has been missing in his previous albums. Stand out tracks include "Something for the Fellas", "We Like to Freak", and "Bossy Bottom". Yet if you like those tracks chances are you'll groove on the whole joint, so just download it. Notable contributions from Linda James, Erika Toure, the Geisha Gangster, and Adam Joseph make this a gang bang for your ears. This one is just a whole lot of fun and frippery, but important since finally dance music is out and proud without apologies.
The Gay Pimp Has Done It Again
Jonny's new album continues with his character of the Gay Pimp and Dirty Gay Hits. This album, however, continues on with the current sounds of dance music and includes some of the performers popular in gay nightlife in New York City. The vocals are good quality and vary in color to serve change up with the lyrics. The songs are all fun and dirty but also are subversive as an unapologetic use of hip-hop and R&B styles that are often anti-women and anti-gay to serve as a sex and gay positive music revolution. I wouldn't recommend it for children or people who are sensitive to graphic language, but for everyone who can listen with humor and a sense of fun, this is probably the best album of the year.
