Worth the wait
This album shows such a great transformation from Adam's last cd, four years ago. I love listening not only to his beautiful voice but the message he sings about. We can all find a song on this album that hits home and songs that take us to a familiar place in our hearts. Well worth the wait!!
Steady as he goes
This third full length CD release from Northern NJ's Adam Gilbert, finds the singer and pianist longing for a better world. The title track evokes images of battle cries and warrior calls, while Gilbert sings "Every generation has its test / Let's see what we can do". By the second track though, this bravado is gone, instead replaced by the refreshing vulnerability of Gilbert's solo voice as he struggles to find ways to affect change. "How Do We Respond" questions society's reactions to the certainties of life ("Gonna be fear and moments of doubt"), while "On A Hill" finds Gilbert wishing for a simpler time, perhaps a return to his youthful innocence.
The fourth and fifth tracks on the CD may, in fact, be Gilbert's strongest to date. "Steady" could easily be a lost track off of 'The Stranger', as the piece plays as part love song, part homage to 1970's-era Billy Joel. This is followed by the brilliant "A Little Emotion", featuring a chorus as catchy as it is crafty, in its use of mixed meter and uneven phrasing.
Through the entire project, Adam Gilbert reveals a maturity to both his music and his lyrics, indicative of an album four years in the making. "A Generation of Forgotten Kings" is very much worth a listen, and leaves this reviewer excited for Mr. Gilbert's future endeavors.

A Generation of Forgotten Kings' grandiose sound is lead by Adam GIlbert's intricate and refined vocals and piano. He speaks to his audience in many songs with specific and direct messages of hope, resilience, and awakening. Adam GIlbert has grown both in production and musicality in four years, resulting in a focused sound and concept, coupled with emotional depth and awareness. The songs opener and closer ("A Generation of Forgotten Kinds" and "Listen) give a chamber pop feel, which is a direction I really liked Adam GIlber't's music going. It's an album you definitely have to digest to fully appreciate; an album for reflection and contemplation.
