I Tunes Restrictions

Again, I agree, why can't I Tunes quit restricting access to some songs by demanding that one purchase the entire album. Don't want it, change your policy!

What's the point . . .

. . . of making this an all or nothing deal? I just can't spring for ten bucks, but I'd unhesitatingly buy both "Lay My Burden Down" and "The Mystery of Felix." Both are spellbindingly beautiful, but I can't pay that much for just 2 songs. I guess the current packaging deal makes sense to someone. Just hard to see it from this end.

5 stars is going to this soundtrack because, as the previous reviewer stated, it's a great melange of styles. You have Jerry Douglas's fantastic dobro playing wihich permeates the film, big-band period pieces, and a few modern-sounding gems. Which is the basis of my complaint: I am sick to death of iTunes and their (expletive) policy of making you buy the entire soundtrack, when all you want is one or a few tunes from the album--case in point, Alison Krauss's beautiful closing credits number, "Lay My Burden Down." This is truly one of her greatest and, frankly, the only song from the soundtrack I wanted to OWN. But no-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o, once again, iTunes has to be the selfish capitalists they are and tell us "all or nothing."

That complaint aside, if you happen to LIKE and want to OWN all the tracks, come and get it! But most importantly, DON'T miss the opportunity of seeing this amazing film. It tells a great & unforgettable story, the script is tremendous, and every one of the actors--Sissy Spacek, Lucas Black, Bill Cobb, Bill Murray and ESPECIALLY the lead, Robert Duvall--are at the top of their form. Bill Murray has already shown his chops as a good dramatic actor (although they give him most of the film's moments of comic relief), Sissy Spacek once again never fails to amaze in any role she takes on...and I have NEVER seen Robert Duvall come close to the quality of the role he plays here (comparable, maybe, to THE APOSTLE). This film WILL be mentioned at Golden Globe and Oscar time, and I can already seen Best Actor and Supporting Actor nominations here.
