iTunes Review

This Brooklyn-based female power-trio got their start in 2005 while still in the midst of fifth grade, but their 2009 sophomore album bubbles, pops, kicks and screams with an honest adolescent angst and humor that just can’t be faked by anyone over 20 years old. Get Over It ignites with “Pleaser,” a punky new-wave number that would make The Runaways proud with its heavy guitar hooks, contagious melodies, and an unapologetically catty slam-book narrative about an annoying social-climbing classmate. “Super Teen” similarly scratches at mean and materialistic mall girls with razor sharp claws and old-school punk ferocity in the musicianship, while standout track “Everybody Else” could convince Joan Jett that she somehow has a long lost daughter in guitarist/singer Sophie whose six string prowess unleashes panther sized riffs under snarling tough-chick lyrics. They even give feminism a sidesplitting edge in “Barbie Eat A Sandwich.” Once you get over the novelty that these honestly enjoyable songs were written and recorded by eighth graders, you can't help starting to look forward to their future.

These Girls Rock! Go CBOF!!

Care Bears On Fires Have amazing songs with lyrics about things you don't hear other teen bands singing about--like materialism and anorexia and conformity and how much they hate gym class. And the songs are really hooky and energetic. This album rocks hard! I saw them live, so I can tell you they're great on their instruments and this album is really being played by them, not by some adults in the background. Care Bears On Fire are an alternative to everything else out there right now--a breath of fresh air. They're the real deal and deserve to be HUGE! Go Sophie! Go Izzy! Go Jena! Go CBOF!!

I'll set you on fire

My ears are bleeding!!! This isnt real music, why dont they sign bands that can actually sing!!

Awesome !!!!

I couldn't wait to hear all the other songs from the band! My favorite song is everybody else! I highly reccomend this cd!!!

Biography

Formed: 2005 in Brooklyn, NY

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s

Formed in 2005 by three music-minded fifth-graders, Care Bears on Fire rose to regional prominence one year later, when the band's classicist approach to punk rock (tempered with a fondness for pop melodies) earned it a three-page spread in New York Magazine. Brooklyn natives Sophie, Lucio, and Isadora ("Izzy") took their cues from the old-school punk tradition, shunning their forenames and playing a series of shows in the Park Slope area. The trio also issued an introductory EP, Confuse Me, in 2006,...
