50 Cent's major-label debut came after years of mix-tape triumphs, an abortive deal with Sony, and a number of bullet wounds that made him appear superhuman. Under the wing of Eminem's Shady label, Get Rich or Die Tryin' quickly made millions of rap fans believe the hype. While the disc rightfully gained tons of attention for singles like "In da Club" and "21 Questions" (which did for self-doubt what "In da Club" had for unleashed partying), what continues to impress is the consistency of 50 Cents's vision and skills. Other key tracks: "P.I.M.P.," "Many Men (Wish Death)."

Beware of the Clean

First of all: - It's better than the Massacre - The "Clean" version cuts out way too many words - 50 Cent is awesome (but not as awesome as Eminem) and this CD deserves 5 stars, not 4 There are some really awesome songs on this CD. - In Da Club, P.I.M.P., 21 Questions, If I Can't, Patiently Waiting, Like My Style, Back Down and Wanksta There were also some awesome songs on this CD that were ruined when they cut out more than half the words in the chorus if it was at all related to guns or violence. - What Up Gangsta, Bloodhound, and Poor Lil' Rich *****(they also removed a whole song) Take "Don't Push Me", for example. It's a great song with a guest appearance from my favorite artist ever, Eminem. Follow these steps: Listen to the clip/preview of the song (double click on it). You hear the last part of the verse and most of the chorus. Notice after it says "right now I'm on the edge, so don't push me" in the chorus, there's a pause. It just cut out a whole line that had no bad words at all (I aim straight for your head). Then it cuts out two more lines, so all you hear is "don't push me... so don't push me.. I got somethin' for yo...". Well, you get the point. It's like that for a lot of the songs (there are more besides what I listed, they just weren't as good or it didn't happen as much). Yes, I still love this CD. It deserves a 5, but just too many words have been cut out. Get the explicit version if you can. If not, it's still good, but not perfect.

Best of Both Worlds

First off, I need to address you die-hard 50 Cent fans. I hate to tell you this, but The Massacre was terrible. There were a few good tracks like Disco Inferno, Hate it or Love it, and Outta Control, but the rest is throwaway. However, Get Rich or Die Tryin' is an entirly different story. Started off by head banger What Up Gangsta, ended by good times song Wangsta, and flat out led by club hit In da Club, the debut album is a much better start than say, his producer first major album, Eminem's Slim Shady LP. The song Patiently Waiting flexs 50's lyrical talents, as he is known more for his catchy chants, but he shows us his skill in this track, and is aided by Em. Like I said, 50 is known for his flow, and he shows off this carecteristic in Many Men (Wish Death). Back Down deals with 50s clash with rapper Ja Rule. Fun beats carry the songs If I Can't and P.I.M.P. into two songs that will be stuck in your head for a while. 21 Questions is a soft love song worth showing to a girlfriend or wife. And the last memorable track is Don't Push Me, in which 50 lets 2004 Mixtape Artist of the Year and fellow G-Unit member Lloyd Banks and Eminem (I believe we already covered him) take over. Overall, the album is a good one, going up in Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records Hall of Fame, espcially compared to The Massacre.
