Album Review
Getting Away with Murder offers Papa Roach fans more of the California combo's hard-hitting rage rock. Jacoby Shaddix (the name change stands) and crew have moved fully away from the rap rock blip that put them on the radar around the turn of the century. But they haven't lost their amplified intensity, nor the obsession with depressing, vaguely S&M-ish lyrics. (Example: "I'm a glutton for your punishment/You're the master/And I'm waiting for disaster") Production from Howard Benson and the mixing of Chris Lord-Alge ensure a crushingly compressed, radio-ready juggernaut, and the title track doesn't disappoint in that department. "Be Free" is also a standout, moving slightly away from the usual heavy mid-tempo sound for a scathing exploration of the ravages of alcoholism on Shaddix' tortured psyche. Fans of the Roach will certainly enjoy the loud, blustery Getting Away With Murder, even if it's not necessarily helping this fluxing genre through its growing pains.

Solid All The Way Through
I bought Getting Away With Murder the day it came out. It was, and is one of the most played CD's in my car. If you like straight-up rock and don't want poppy junk, this is the album for you. The guitar will smack you in the face and the lyrics will force you to bob your head as each song progresses. Check out "Not Listening" and the title track for some great rock. If you really want to enjoy life, check out "Blanket of Fear", the intro to the song is so intense you'll want more.
This CD...
This cd is is one that doesn't dissapoint with every song. Before catching my eye on the cover of the album, I had never really liked any one band or cd in particular. This changed all of it. This cd had me going from the second that it started. From the moment Blood took off, I knew that I'd be getting my money's worth and more. Papa Roach has long since left their rap/metal fusion, but Getting Away With Murder delivers all of the energy that their other cd's have had. Getting Away With Murder is incredibly underestimated I believe, and I would recommend to anyone reading this that you should at least give one or two songs a chance, you'll be back for more.
Papa Roach Reaches Out???
Don't get me wrong, I love Papa Roach & this CD is amazing, but what's the deal with playing "Scars" on pop radio? Are they trying to get un-dedicated fans who listen to one single then chuck everything else out? If they are that's pretty sad cuz they're better than that! They don't deserve lame, poser, pop radio "fans". Great, they might sell a few more CDs now, but down the road, they won't & their concerts will suck now due to the "fans" whio only know "Scars". The same thing is happening to Green Day...selling out to posers. Don't let this happen to Papa Roach, too! KEEP ROCK FOR ROCKERS!!!
