Album Review

This really isn't brand new music, for the simple fact that Jah Cure (whose real name is Siccature Alcock) is currently serving a 15-year sentence for firearms possession and rape. Despite that, it's a stunning record, marking Cure as a leading light in roots reggae. There's a glimmer of hope in his voice, a real heartfelt quality that sets him apart from most plying similar trades, and his music, which is mostly original riddims, rather than borrowed, is never in your face or over the top. Instead, he seems to believe that less is more, which means that it actually takes several plays to fully capture everything on "Hanging Slowly" or "Dung In Deh." Of course, it's impossible to hear the lyrics without thinking of his current incarcerated situation (he's actually up for parole soon), but try to take them at face value. He's at his best alone, but there's the inevitable bow to commercial pressures, in the form of duets with Sizzla and Jah Mason. If this is the old stuff, it'll be very interesting to hear what he does after finding his freedom. He'll have a lot to say, that seems certain. For now, this puts him well ahead of the pack.

Big up..Jah Cure

One of the best reggae albums I've heard thus far. Keep it on repeat.

great vibes...

Jah Cure is great artist. Love his newer tracks... Sticky, Love Is,... etc. Don't accept Clemson Moon's review... How can you compare any artist to Bob Marley or Burning Spear?... you can't. Each artist has their own style and expressions... and anyone passing judgement pon another be ready for your own judgement...... Jah Vibes... Mo'Fi-yah!

Living Legend!!!

When you are given your moniker by Capleton, taken into the studios by Sizzla, get your album produce by Beres Hammond for Harmony House and he provides background vocals all the same, is there a question that you were something special. So special that years later his name is still running ahead of the pack and this is after spending more than 8 years behind bars. Jah Cure's music is timeless and we have only began to get the full extent of this young brother's range. We knew from the very beginning that he was destined for great things. Every once in a while a certain artist comes along to remind us as to why our music and culture is so unique. Bob Marley did it in his day and Garnet Silk did it in the 90s. It is time for Jah Cure to take throne but Babylon still fighting the Cure. Babylon free the Cure! This music is so militant that it harkens back to the days of Peter Tosh, Jacob Miller and Hugh Mundell. Every song he sings it is vibes the brother is building. We are still waiting for Jah Cure to come to the states. We have not given up on him and never will. I recommend this album to any reggae collector. Listen to Ghetto Life. This is my favorite song on this album and western region comes in second. One Love and Jah Bless.

Years Active: '00s

Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, but raised in Kingston Town, golden-voiced singer Jah Cure (real name Siccature Alcock) became involved with reggae music as a teenager and rapidly rose to fame in the late '90s only to have his meteoric climb to the top halted by a jail sentence. In 1997 and only 18 years old, Jah Cure released the culturally minded single "King in This Jungle," a duet with Sizzla and produced by Beres Hammond. The single was a pivotal moment for Cure for a couple reasons. Hammond would...
