iTunes Review
Anyone who viewed the VH-1 special about the making of Fleetwood Mac’s classic album Rumours was treated to some keen insights into the music making of Lindsey Buckingham. Besides, his obvious penchant for writing irresistibly catchy melodies, Buckingham was proven an expert technician and arranger who could hear where the music was going long before it got there. This intricate expertise informs everything Buckingham touches and for 2008’s Gift of Screws, he picks up the tempo from his previous, quieter, more introspective disc, 2006’s Under the Skin, and experiments with the guitars and electrifies his pop instincts with the effortless bounce of “Did You Miss Me,” “The Right Place to Fade,” and “Love Runs Deeper.” “Wait for You” channels an unusual blend of sophisticated metropolitan blues that features some of Buckingham’s most spirited guitar playing. “Great Day” and “Time Precious Time” modulate with a new century’s version of psychedelia, filled with subtle quirks and subliminal hooks underneath the simple surfaces.

Freakin' Awesome
Well, he said it was going to be a rock and roll album and he didn't disappoint!! I got to see him live on 9/10/08 in Portland and already knew we were in for a treat because he played about five of these and they sound great live. If you are a Buckingham fan you'll dig this because everything in his arsenal is on here, from the complex fingerpicking extravaganza songs to the patented Buckingham rocking songs in the vein of Waiting on a Countdown or Go Your Own Way. I don't understand why this guy isn't appreciated on a mega-scale, to be honest. Regardless, this whole album is a gem. My personal fave at the moment is Love Runs Deeper, but really I could pick 7 or 8 right now just judging by how I can't keep my foot still while they are playing over the speakers. Many of these songs are radio hit possibilities while songs such as Time Precious Time or Bel Air Rain get the classic LB treatment of lush, complex fingerpicking the way only he can do it. He really gave us the full boat with these last two albums and I couldn't be more grateful, either.
Gift Of Screws
I can not get enough of this mans lyrics, nor guitar. It is unbelievable what can come from such a normal man like Lindsey buckingham....yet is a man with such talent really that normal? The songs definitely do rock more than Under the Skin, but in a way it has a touch of both albums UTS and GOS. "Love Runs Deeper" sounds like a classic Fleetwood Mac song, and "The Right Place to Fade", "Gift of Screws", and "Wait For You" are the classic Lindsey Buckingham solo material to rock out to over and over. I fully recomend this album to anyone who slates from folk-rock to classic rock...all the way to the Modern era music! Love you Lindsey you truly are my hero!
An Awsome "GIFT" on my birthday!!!!!
Fantastick CD..... The first listen and i'm hooked Cant wait to get into it deeper, but my cat is about to have kittens!!!! no kidding!!!! The only way this Bday could get better is if Stevie showed up on my doorstep. 5 stars mr buckingham
