Customer Reviews
oh sumset, sumset, sumset, what are you talking about?
you need to lighten up. this album is fun! the title: "(Philip Glass: Remixed) Various Artists" says it all. it opens up a whole new mindset and earset to phil's music. just relax and go with it. kudos to all the artists who enjoy and appreciate what phil does. thanks to all of you.
Sumset, Glass has more fun than you think, not to mention a sense of humor.
I think he'd find this interesting. One of the things I like about Glass is his tendency to poke fun at his own music. Some of my favorite quotes: "My first performance in Seattle was in 1971--I think about 20 people attended...that is, including the ticket sellers." He's lamented that there's more innovation in visual arts than music arts: "In visual arts, if 10 years go by and something new doesn't come along, people are disappointed and will make something up." "The original title of Einstein on the Beach was actually Einstein on the Beach on Wall Street...but the last part got dropped somewhere along the way. It was put on by this sort of ersatz opera company that we created ourselves--we had to; no one would do it."
Since when...
...did classical with electronic, techno, or D&B music not go together? You can mix any genre with classical music and it will sound good. Well, only if it's executed correctly. 5 starts to even it out and give the artists some credit. If you like this type of music, check out Hybrid.
