iTunes Review

Released in 1977, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all-time (over 30 million worldwide and counting), as it practically defined FM-radio in the late-‘70s with its flexible, soothing rhythms, spritely mix of acoustic and electric guitars, alluring harmonies and memorable tunes. It also firmly re-established the group that once had been among the leaders in the British blues movement as the consummate pop group of the era as first suggested on their previous self-titled album. The group’s three main songwriters each carved out their territory within the group’s laid-back Southern California identity — as their romantic lives with each other were falling apart. Singer Stevie Nicks had a touch of mystic (“Dreams,” “Gold Dust Woman”). Keyboardist Christine McVie wrote universal anthems (“Don’t Stop,” “Songbird”) and Lindsey Buckingham churned out dynamic pop confectionaries with undercurrents of emotional distress (“Second Hand News,” “Go Your Own Way”). Collectively, the group worked up “The Chain,” a dramatic, multi-layered tour de force pieced together from a series of failed sessions. Spinning tragedy into gold was clearly their métier.

I can't think of an band that deserves success more than they do. What passionate piece of music. I consider Fleetwood Mac (along with Tom Petty) to one of the few 70's acts to write smart pop music. These songs clearly have a lot of time and energy poured into them. It's odd because even though it was a huge hit, this album is depressing. All the songs are about breaking up, with the exception of Gold Dust which is about drug problems. The production is also fantastic and has yet to be matched for an album like this. My one complaint is Oh Daddy, that song is just annoying. Fleetwood Mac deserves a lot more credit than they get. Honestly.

I don't get it. This music sounds horribly boring. I wish I had another hand so I could give it 3 thumbs down. Negative 5 stars. Who buys this stuff?

This classic collection of Fleetwood Mac songs is not only one of the best-selling albums of all-time, but it also won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Don't just listen to a few songs, buy the whole album. Trust me its worth it! Each song on this album is definitely worth listening to.

Second Hand News is a good choice for starting the album.
Dreams has a soothing, relaxing rythm and beat.
Never Going Back Again is one of the best acoustic pieces i've ever heard.
Don't Stop is a catchy anthem.
Go Your Own Way is obviously an unforgetable classic.
Songbird is a sweet and touching piano piece.
The Chain is bone-chilling, spine-tingling masterpeice.
You Make Loving Fun is fun, groovy tune.
I Don't Wan't To Know is a good Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks duet.
Oh Daddy is a nice jam.
Gold Dust Woman is a great closer for this legendary album.

While most bands undergo a number of changes over the course of their careers, few groups experienced such radical stylistic changes as Fleetwood Mac. Initially conceived as a hard-edged British blues combo in the late '60s, the band gradually evolved into a polished pop/rock act over the course of a...
