The Way Forward

Zach Neese's debut record "God and King" is rich with lyrical eloquence, musical sophistication, and spiritual depth. "God and King" contradicts the notion that the modern Church is mired in artistic mediocrity. These songs are anointed for worship and the album possesses the potential of inspiring other worship writers to communicate to God and to others about Him in an eloquent way. To put it simply, the Church needs to hear this record and it has come at the right time. Whether it's the bluegrass of title track "God and King", the nouveau-punk of "Love Won't Fail" or the anthemic "We Trust In Jesus", this record genuinely has something for everyone.

God & King by Zach Neese is an eclectic mix of musical styles and showcases Zach's ability to artfully craft lyrics and melodies that serve the song and not itself. This is by no means your average Contemporary Christian Music album; instead it is a thoughtful journey into the deep, the dark and the unbridled love of a man who is completely devoted to his God.

Styles range from Johnny Cash to Trent Reznor and Jackson Browne to Iggy Pop. There is something for every one in this album with each track being so unique that it's hard to believe that these songs were all written by one man.

Special attention should be paid to the production of these songs. Every song, regardless of its style, is completely authentic to its genre and is a reminder of how great songwriting coupled with great production can create a body of work so compelling that the listener feels they are hearing a man's entire life being played out before them.

I've been a believer for almost 25 years and this is the album that the Church has been waiting for. Thank you Zach for writing an album that speaks to the aches and groanings of the Christian walk and does it in a way that promotes faith and reminds the listener of the power and importance of worship.

Listen to it again and again...

I love the style of this album. But I don't listen to it because of the style. I listen to it because of the substance. I've found that a lot of worship music lacks any real depth. Oftentimes we're just saying the same old thing in a slightly different way. The way Zach writes is an obvious endeavor to help you open your heart to God and fully express thoughts, feelings and emotions that you've felt for years but never knew how to adequately put it into words.

There are two things about Zach that I notice every time I see him. One- he always makes me want to know God more. This is because any time you encounter someone who truly has a hunger for God, it will only cause you to be more hungry. Two- he makes me want to fulfill my God-given purpose in life. This is because when I see him lead worship, I see him as his piece fits perfectly into the giant puzzle that is the Kingdom of God. When you see someone in their "niche" it makes you pursue all the more that place that God has called you to occupy until He comes.

If you're looking for a tool that helps you come to know God more, pour out your heart to Him in ways you never thought possible and fuel your pursuit for His plans and purposes in your life, then this album should already be downloading as we speak! What are you waiting for?
