Beautiful... every song

It's rare for me that I buy an album and I give it much of a listen months down the road. But, this one has and always will stick with me. I listen to it all the time (admittedly, at least one song every day) and I doubt I'll ever stop.

The best part about the album is... you go from loving one song and obsessing over it to loving a new one the next week and giving it just as much attention. When I bought the album, I was listening to the more upbeat songs ("Can't Have It All", "At First Sight", "Bowlegged & Starving") a lot. Then, the more I listened to the entire album all the way through, the deeper my love for the darker, more brooding songs got... and now, I'd say I listen to those ("Goddamned", "A Death Waltz", "Home") even more.

If you've never heard of Jay, just preview the songs and his amazingly soft voice will charm you in to buying this album. If you have heard of him and just don't have this album... umm... how could you not?!

AMAZING SONG WRITER!

Jay just keeps making great albums!!! His voice and playing are perfectly paired.
I love his honest lyrics!
BUY THIS ALBUM..... you will love it! (especially Half-Boyfriend!!!)

Awesome!

Goddamned remains one of my favourite albums. It's title track has amazing lyrics and is one of my favourite Brannan songs. I would definitely recommend everyone to get this album. It blows me away.

Texas-born singer, songwriter, and actor Jay Brannan's angelic voice and folky, acoustic approach may make him appear like a garden-variety contemporary singer/songwriter, but his musical sensibility brings him closer to hard-to-fit-in-a-box female artists like Ani DeFranco, Lisa Loeb, Sinéad O'Connor, and Liz Phair, and he sounds like nothing so much as a male version of Joni Mitchell at times. Brannan appeared as Seth in John Cameron Mitchell's 2006 film Shortbus, and his song "Soda Shop" was featured...
