Worth the wait
Si*Sé has not released an LP in five years, so you can imagine the suspense this hiatus left their fans in! I highly recommend downloading this EP. Like their title-album and sophomore More Shine, "Gold" gleans from diverse musical genres to create a global NYC sound that is distinctly Si*Sé's. "This Love" is reflective of Motown soul while "Buscaré" blends chill electronica and reggae rhythms. "Goes On" has a trip-hoppy futuristic feel that is reminiscent of their 2001 album, but updated for 2010. "Donde Esta" has more of a funk feeling to it, and the EP wraps up with the group's cover of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain." The talent of Si*Se's musicians comes through nicely on this EP, but as always, if you want to fully appreciate them, hear them live!
Fabulous on all levels...
...the only complaint I have for Si*Se's long anticipated 'Gold' is that there is not more! This EP is a tease! We want and need more, more, more! Old and new Si*Se fans will not be disappointed. Beautiful, melodic, soulful, ambitious and tantalizing are what come to mind when I zone out to 'Gold'. Love it!
