Customer Reviews

Classic songwriter extrodinaire

Tim Brantley has channeled some classic rock mojo and has blended it into finely and genuinely crafted songwriting. Retro rock bands tend to have a single dimension and a temporary novelty factor, think Airbourne or The Darkness, or even in cars like the New Beetle or the Mini Cooper. Sure, they're cool, but it's hard to do anything really substantial with it because the artists are trying to make you remember the one thing they are trying to evoke. Brantley very obviously grew up listening to just about everything that could be considered 70's gold. I hear so many influences in these songs that would make this simple review much longer than it needed to be, but rather than stealing the essence of these influences or a DJ making bastard-pop, Tim Brantley is making a mashup of memories into songs. The end result, though, is less sugar pop derivatives like Maroon 5 or Scissor Sisters, but instead Brantley weaves vaguely familiar, memorable hooks with soulful lyrics, powerful piano, and a tasteful accompaniment that makes an album that should make it a must-have for 2009. Listen for Tim Brantley to playing at a restaurant, mall, and on iPod near you. I've got him playing right now. You should, too.

simply amazing

Tim Brantley is charming, funny, friendly, and an amazing singer/songwriter. I had the chance to see him on the 'Tell It Like It Is' tour with Josh Kelley and Ryan Cabrera. He told the stories behind the songs, made jokes, and performed with awesome vocals. I definitely recommend this for fans of indie-pop, pop, and pop-rock. He's gonna be big!
