where has she been?
Under what rock? Someone give this girl a medal. I accidentally came across this and am so psyched I'm writing! Weird and rocking-totally recommended for anyone who likes someone on the edge of famous. I like "I'm Here," Doesn't Shine," "Defrost"Breaks my heart and "Dog Jackson."
A wonderful artists and poet
Terese Taylor is a poet in the tradition of Suzanne Vega and Neil Young. Yet, she has an edge both musically and lyrically that makes her more contemporary. She is also has a dark sense of humor that they both lack found in soungs like Your Hand. Doesn't Shine speaks to so well to anyone who has felt that sense that they just can't seem to shake something inside that is keeping them low. Noose Nor Reason is a lyrical homage to the poet Edna Vincent St. Millay thought I doubt the poet rocked quite as beautifully as Terese Taylor. Folsom Street named after the S&M fair in San Francisco is dark and lyric in its approach to abusive relationships of any sort. Like Suzanne Vega she takes you inside the heads of the people in the song. I highly recommend this artist.
On her other CD you might listen to Ghost, which was played on This Americna Life, Grandma's Chocolate Bread -- a great dedication to her own grandmother, and Drug Problem which evokes the feeling of trying to survive in a culture that tries to fit everyone in a box.
