Album Review
Relative newcomers Marcelo Zarvos and Bruce Fowler team for The Good Shepherd, an uncommonly intelligent and atmospheric thriller score notable for its refusal to conform to familiar ideals of tension and suspense. Rather than browbeating listeners with melodramatic melodies and frenetic rhythms, Zavros and Fowler favor melancholy strings, foreboding piano melodies, and dissonant effects that combine to create a palpable sense of danger. Period material including George and Ira Gershwin's "Embraceable You," Irving Berlin's "Blue Skies," and Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer's "Come Rain or Come Shine" fleshes out Varese Sarabande's official soundtrack release.

Really dark & moody stuff
...and a perfect fit for this movie. Marcelo Zarvos is one of those composers, like Patrick Doyle, Paul Haslinger, Kerry Muzzey, and Marco Beltrami, that I really want to hear more of in movies. I love the big-name film composers, but sometimes adding guys like this to the mix really reinvigorates the genre and changes the landscape a little bit. Great stuff, give it a listen.
Differently Wonderful!
This is a good sountrack for those who like to relax and "visualize" suspense. There are also many songs on this soundtrack that are really relaxing, and I found myself being soothed to beautiful music before I went to bed! It is a must buy!
Simply beautiful
Deniro found the perfect composers to score his minimilast film. The music overshadows nothing and instead enhances everything. "Edward & Laura pt 2" is wonderful, "Silouans Song" is dramatic and "Miriam" is heartbreakingly beautiful and I feel the high point of this score. Definitely worth the purchase.
