iTunes Review

Avril Lavigne has no intention of growing older gracefully. The mallrat punk rocker with the perfect productions and the sassy suspicions of the coolest misfit in the skate park continues to find ways to address her audience’s hopes, dreams and frustrations. The enviable radio hooks are right there on “What the Hell” and they chirp through the handclap-happy “Stop Standing There” and the mid-tempos “I Love You” and “Everybody Hurts,” where she turns reflective. By the time Lavigne makes it to her completely self-penned tunes, “4Real,” “Remember When” and “Goodbye,” the album’s genuine soft-rockers, it feels about time. No one can possibly have that much energy without turning back time. Can they? The Deluxe Edition of the album includes acoustic versions of “What the Hell,” “Push” and “Wish You Were Here,” her cover of Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation,” a remix of “What the Hell” and a video of the making of the album. She may be getting older, but no one’s told her yet.

Meaningful, amazing record

I have been a huge Avril Lavigne fan since "Complicated." Avril has always sung songs with so much depth and meaning. It's nice to see that this record kind of goes back to the Avril I loved on her first two albums more so than "Girlfriend." These songs have meaning, emotions, and feelings everyone can relate to! Definitely worth the wait :)

Avril Lavigne - Goodbye Lullaby: Really Good Job

from the beginning of let's go to the sudden shift of under my skin to the extremely pop-heavy, the best damn thing, avril lavigne combines all of her album's main elements and creates, goodbye lullaby. on this album, she uses a more serious tone than her last one and uses more acoustic rock than that of pop or punk. her lyrics are more mature than that of her past hit, "girlfriend," with a hint of LG/UMS in each of the songs. so far i'm enjoying this album, and think that this album is a hit. standout tracks so far: wish you were here, smile, everybody hurts, and goodbye. darlin is also another strong song on the album. "like" if you agree.

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Avril Lavigne first appeared in summer 2002, touting an addictive debut single (the spunky pop/rock gem "Complicated") and a skatepunk image that purposely clashed with the polished glamour of mainstream pop. Lavigne, who was 17 at the time, quickly rose to teen idol status, selling several million copies of her debut album, Let Go (the best-selling album by a female artist in 2002), while inspiring a genuine fashion craze with her penchant for tank tops and neckties. As the decade progressed, so...
