Triumphant return for lost but NEVER forgotten icon of rock'n'roll. For those of you unfamiliar with the saga of Roky Erickson and that of the 13th Floor Elevators (the genre defining godfathers of psychedelic rock from Austin, TX, circa 1965-1969) let me be the first to tell you what musicians, producers, and the entire music industry have known for decades: Roky Erickson was THE voice of Rock and Roll! (Apologies to Van and Mick) Unfortunately, for reasons oblivious to this reviewer, the masses remain generally unaware of Roky's undeniable influence on EVERYTHING rock and roll. From punk and metal to Dylan and the indie-slacker 'Neil-Young-wannabe' bands of today, Roky Erickson influenced them all. Check out Kevin McAlester's doc You're Gonna Miss Me: A Film about Roky Erickson to get the complete story. True Love is another reason Roky Erickson deserves enshrinment into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame. Big high five to Okkervil River for stellar backing performance. Oh, can I tell y'all somethin'..I'm 35 years old and 'discovered' Roky in Feb of '09. He's that good!
