Album Review

Almost a year to the date after their first album, It's About Time, hit stores, the Jonas Brothers delivered their eponymous sophomore record. In that year, the trio departed Daylight/Columbia and set up camp at Hollywood Records (thereby making the debut a bit of a collector's item), and they also matured a bit too. If It's About Time was overtly kiddie in its mentality in certain stretches — for confirmation, listen to "Year 3000," their first hit and tacked onto the end of this album as a bonus — Jonas Brothers veers toward the teenybopper market, as its songs aren't quite as cutesy and the sound is just a little bit more muscular than before. The group still sounds quite a bit like Hanson — not the latter-day journeyman incarnation, but the earlier, fizzier trio that had hits in the late '90s — and they admit as much in "That's Just the Way We Roll," where they battle and lose to Hanson. That kind of good humor goes a long way here, since it helps give the Jonas Brothers an identity beyond being just Junior Hansons — although that alone would serve them well, since they're cheerful, good-natured, and, best of all, tuneful. They're best when the tempo is a bit sprightly — it brings out the snap in their bubblegum, as the sugary, addictive "Hold On," "Goodnight and Goodbye," and "Still in Love with You" prove — but they're still quite charming when they ease into numbers designed for middle school slow dances, like "Hello Beautiful." It all adds up an album that's tighter and better than their debut, and one that suggests that they not only deserve their popularity on Radio Disney, but they might have the writing and performing skills to last beyond that as well.

JONAS FOR PRESIDENT!

S.O.S.-Newest single, amazing=) Hold On-You know it already! Goodnight&Goodbye-One of my top 3 favorites of all time, more rock than pop in this song. Thats Just The Way We Roll-Very fun and creative. Kind of like Year 3000 but better=p Hello Beautiful- Slow Ballad, adorable lyrics, its a classic=) Still In Love With You- Mainly a Nick song, very catchy! More popish than the other tracks. Australia- I like to relate it to 6 Minutes from Its About Time. More rock, but very beachy and fun aswell. Games- AMAZING! Not many other words fit this song.. I highly recomend this track if you only want a taste of Jonas=) When You Look Me In The Eyes-Awe! Its so fun to hear the new version. This was origionaly off Nicks Solo CD I believe, or it just didnt make it to the first album. But their voices sure did mature nicely. And some lyrics have changed too. Inseperable- Most rockish(lack of better word)song on the cd. Lovable! Just Friends-FANTASTIC! Pretty much every girl can relate to this song, classic about two friends hat fall in love later in life. This song tells that story. Its adorable. Hollywood- Superb lyrics=) It kind of reminds my of FOB actually. These boys will never give up, and they are in it for the love of music not money! Y3k- Yall know this one like the back of your hand. First single, from first album. Kids Of The Future-From the soundtrack of Meet The Robinsons. VERY similiar to Kids of America;) All songs are a 10/10. If you only wanted like a little taste I recomend: --Goodnight&Goodbye --Just Friends --Hollywood --Games Hope it helps. Go Jonas Brothers=) <333

AMAZING.

Since late 2005, early 2006, these boys who I'm glad to call my friends have kept me hooked. Their music is very energetic and amazing. Although there's haters out there saying that they're still music and calling it their own, those people need to realize that the original owners of the songs are getting paid for the Jonas boys (and also other artists who do the same thing) to use/change the song. This album is a definite accomplishment in the Nick, Kevin, and Joe's lives, including "It's About Time" as well. "S.O.S." - Nick wrote this in 10 minutes after a personal life experience he had. Anyone who can write such a great song in 10 minutes... MAJOR KUDOS. "Hold On" - Perfect song. The lyrics are very encouraging... "When you love someone and they break your heart, don't give up on love, have faith, restart, just hold on." Awesome. "Goodnight & Goodbye" - Very catchy. The boys do a great job with this song, especially in concert as they perform it live. "That's Just The Way We Roll" - Joe's writing no doubt. That crazy fool probably figured "Year 3000" was such a big success with them that they needed another crazy song to rock the beat. Great lyrics. "So call us freaks, but that's just the way we roll!" "Hello Beautiful" - A love of the ladies. This song is very heartfelt and I love it dearly ever since I first heard it live November 2006. "Still In Love With You" - A fave of mine since I heard it acoustically in April 2007. The lyrics are amazing and the singing in this song is great. "Australia" - Jack steps aside and lets Nick J take a beat on the drums. Nick's brilliant on the drums as he sings at the same time. "Games" - This song is amazing. "I'm so bored with these games"... how many people feel that in a crappy relationship? ALOT. Love this song... "When You Look Me In The Eyes" - Another fave of the ladies. Nick's voice is awesome in this song. Although I'm a big fan of the original which featured on Nick's unreleased solo album with Columbia Records, this one is very close and dear to me. "Inseparable" - Although disappointed this song replaced the awesome "Move On" which I loved, this song is really great as well. "I will give it up, just to show you I'm in love. Yeah you know, we're inseparable". "Just Friends" - This song is so true. It definitely hit me in the heart. I bet there's tons of girls who wish this song came true with all the guys they're friends with. "Hollywood" - Very encouraging song. Through all the damage Hollywood brings to celebrities, you stand through it, resisting tempation. "Fallen soldiers all around us, but we're still standing strong.... Hollywood here we come.." "Year 3000" - The song that helped the buzz that everyone's talking about. This song is a definite winner of Jonas fans on Radio Disney. "Kids of the Future" - This song was great on the "Meet The Robinsons" soundtrack and fit very well with the movie. Although the music video didn't play during the credits like all fans hoped, this song is awesome.

it makes my heart melt my adrenaline rush and gives me butterflies

Biography

Formed: 2005 in Wyckoff, NJ

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '00s, '10s

One of the most popular teenaged groups of the 2000s, the Jonas Brothers crafted hook-filled power pop anthems in the vein of McFly, Hanson, and the Modern Lovers. The young New Jersey natives (while readying their 2006 debut, brothers Joseph, Kevin, and Nicholas Jonas topped out at 16, 17, and 13, respectively) were reared in the city of Wyckoff under the tutelage of musical parents. Nicholas showed a particular flair for singing; by the age of six, he'd already begun a modest career as a Broadway...
