Fun and Easy
I use these songs with the book and teacher's guide. We go step by step starting with the Verb Song. After we learn verbs and nouns, we start building sentences. When we learn the other parts of speech like adjectives, adverbs and prepositional phrases, we make longer sentences. The way it is presented makes it very easy to understand and remember. The songs are catchy and singable. Students love it! I bought it for my infant grandson so that he can learn the songs early. When he is older, he will understand and apply what he has memorized.
A couple of songs good for even older learners or ELL
I'm using the "Preposition Song" and the "Greek and Latin Prefix and Suffix Song" in sophomore English. I teach in an urban district, and these two songs aren't too childish; and they good for all types of learners, including my ELL students. The Preposition Song works well, as a review, when we are studying Arthurian legend (the maiden begs for rescue). The "Greek and Latin Song" is good vocabulary building for Ohio's 10th grade standardized tests. I did, however, have to listen over and over again to write down the songs onto paper myself, as I did not buy a hard-copy CD - but bought through iTunes. There are no sources for these lyrics alone. You gotta do the work!
