I was expecting drums
Bizarre, yet completely satisfying album by master drummer (and apparently, multi-instrumentalist) Benny Greb. When i first listened to the thirty second clip of Twist and heard his... obscure vocal-style, i assumed he was just reaching (and reaching rather far) for something to put over his drums. But going down his list of songs, the vocal parts are intricate and well thought out, and occaisionally hilarious. My album favorites include Drum 'n' Voice (imitated synth noises and spacey vocal chords over techno-madness percussion), Midnight Pizza (jazzy, tribal sounding vocals over restrained drums), Marchin' (High school marching band meets funk), and Guitarpiece (delivering what the title promises). But the entire album is very good. keep churning out more, ben.

Truly innovative--dispels any notion that drummers aren't real musicians. I defy anyone to say that this isn't a purely genius musical effort..... Check out the Youtube clips of Benny recording this cd!!! And he's funny too ...
Don't hate on drummers, you know you wish you were this cool
I saw him at a percussion conference (actually I have his autograph, too) and he is truly amazing. Good technical drummer, does some cool stuff, and he also played some songs from this album. I love the title song grebfruit!
