The Third And Last
GRP folded not too long after this project, their third holiday project featuring their top-drawer artists. This cd was released in 1993 and the sound is amazing. The second project featured more vocalists, this one two vocals. B.B. King growls his way through Merry Christmas Baby and created the definitive version, "I'll Be Home For Christmas" was featured as an instrumental on the first cd and given Diane's rather strained performance, I'm so sorry, it's true and I'm one of her biggest fans, ask anybody who know me, should have been relegated to that first version. Tom Scott high steps through Feliz Navidad and the Yellowjackets tackle the normally sung "Go Tell It On The Mountain" and this version, as are all instrumental versions of sung carols, is refreshing. I really enjoy a totally different approach and Billy Taylor's "Deck The Halls" sounds plaintive at first then watch out!!
GRP Christmas Volume III is excellent
Once again, Dave Grusin has soulfully expressed his thoughts and talent on track 8, "How a Rose E're Blooming."
