What Happened? !!!!! Come On GURU!!!!

First off, everybody that has decent understanding of hip hop culture and history knows that GURU is a legend. Period. Regardless if GURU decided to sing punk rock, reggae, or bossanova, a legend is still a legend without a doubt. Here's my issue. I know without a doubt that GURU's chemistry with DJ Premier is second to none and is TIMELESS!!! It could never be dated because legendary work like that comes from another place, perhaps a heavenly place beyond this B.S. that we see here. I pray that GURU doesn't only recover from his recent medical situation, I pray that he WAKES UP and gets back together with Primo immediately!!!! The last thing the hip hop community ever needed was for Gang Starr to break up. The "superproducer" MC Solar needs to understand that he is talented and has good intentions, but the chemistry with GURU on a musical level just isn't there or even comparable to what GURU has with Primo. GURU you know like I know that there are veteran and legendary DJ's/Producers that you could have had work on your solo stuff besides MC Solar that are way nicer. Come on dude. Really???? Gang Starr's catalog speaks for itself. Snap out of it GURU!!!! Know your resources and know your strength with the legendary DJ Premier and remember that you were never Gang Starr alone, but you and DJ Premier are Gang Starr together!!!!! The problem with a lot of these classic MC's like GURU is that they envy the success of fools and idiots, instead of being grateful for their OWN legacy. Be an OWNER GURU!!! Please bro, I humbly ask you to put aside whatever beef or stupid miscommunication you have with Primo and Big Shug, reinforce the Gang Starr Foundation, bring Jeru, Lil' Dap, Tha Knutcracker, and Malaki back!!!! I'm not saying that I wouldn't want to hear new talent be added to the Gang Starr Foundation, but at least reinstate it GURU. Represent big homie!!! RIGHT NOW!!!! Enough with these trips on thinking you're doin' something bigger now!!! NOTHING is EVER BIGGER or BETTER than that which is inspired by GOD!!!! PERIOD!!! The wackest hip hop MC's and crews out there are taking over like army ants!!! Snap out of this, wake up and get back together with DJ Premier, make more legendary music and keep it moving!!!!!! We need more unity from the pioneers and originators in this game!!!

Far from bad

Like most old Guru fans I felt quite disappointed when I first heard this, but closer listening has led me to really like most songs. This is just Guru accessing another realm of Hip Hop like he did with the Jazzmatazz series. If you haven't noticed Guru's an extremely diverse rapper, his music taps into all "sounds" of hip hop, but it remains meaningful, and is done skillfully. That's Guru's Style, forever fresh, and ever changing, his ability to tap into as many sounds as he has is a testament to his skill. Solar does a great job for some songs, he's a very unique artist Ex. (Its a Shock), but others are terrible, he just seems to fall into a mainstream pop sound at points. The two of them make a good team, it's just that most of Guru's fan base is from Gangstarr and this is not what they expect from Guru.

Rapper/composer Guru (real name Keith Elam) first rose to prominence as the "lyrical half" of the hip-hop duo Gang Starr, one of the first outfits that attempted to fuse jazz with rap. After three albums by Gang Starr hit record store shelves (1989's No More Mr. Nice Guy, 1991's Step in the Arena, and 1992's Daily Operation), Guru launched his own solo career, issuing Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 in 1993.
