Completely Pleased

Curt Smith's current solo effort is a lush, mature soundscape of dreamy pop tunes. Not as underproduced as his self titled "Mayfield" release; Smith's "Halfway, Pleased" is as melodic as Tears For Fears' 2004 comeback effort "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending". The tracks are tender and atmospheric, with the first four songs inviting the listener to sing along with Smith on this journey through this current aspect of his life. Standout tracks: 1 - 4, 9, & 11. A must for Tears for Fears fans. ** Now, if we can get Roland Orzabal's solo release "Tomcat's Screaming Outside" all would be well.

Not Pleased

After reading all of the reviews, I was really excited to buy this album, but after purchasing the CD, I was not pleased. It seems like there is not a lot of difference between most of the songs. Curt has a great voice, but I just don't feel it here. Also, I don't really care for the remake of 'Who You Are'. I think the version with Roland is much much better. Sounds like I'm the minority here, but this album just doesn't do it for me.

Totally pleased

This solo work of love by Curt Smith (one half of the amazing duo, Tears For Fears) will leave you speechless. The depth, quality, and honesty of his voice is simply indescribable. One can tell that Curt has poured his heart, soul, and mind into this effort. Unlike many offerings put out by musicians today, this is not a group of songs put together just to sell CD's/songs/downloads. It is obvious that these songs and this music are purely Curt's, and not some record company executives' idea of what music should be. "Seven Of Sundays" is sensual, it would put Barry White to shame. "Addict" is a song that touches the raw humanity in all of us. "Greatest Divide" is a must listen. "Halfway, Pleased, is Curt sharing a very personal song with us. Every song on this album is a gift given to us by Curt.
