A Great Start!
There's certainly been a lot of buzz about this duo in the world of country music and I can see why. The harmonies are beautiful and it's been a while since country music has had a new male duo on the scene. As for the songs, there are a couple of outstanding ones and also a few I wasn't wild about. "Welcome to Nashville" has certainly ruffled some feathers and I can see why. I found myself simultaneously laughing and cringing as I listened to it. The scathing lyrics won't win them many friends in that town ~ at least not friends in the music industry. "Daisy" is one of those songs that I'm almost embarrassed to admit I like because there is a certain sweet corniness to it all, but there you have it ~ I do like it. I also enjoyed "Burn it Down" and "Takin' Me On", but in my opinion none of these songs come close to the greatness of "Devil and the Cross" and "Die By My Own Hand" ~ far and away the two best cuts on this album. Had all the songs been of this caliber, I would have given them 5 stars.
Simply awesome!
Amazing talent is definitely one word that comes to mind when listening to this album. Halfway to Hazard is a refreshing new duo that is going to take the country world by storm. This is most certainly a cd that one can listen to the whole way through without skipping any tracks. These guys are wonderful song writers (they co-wrote 9 out of the 11 songs) as well as performers, and in my book that defines a truly talented artist. Halfway to Hazard rocks!
