Album Review
During the closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, k.d. lang delivered a show-stopping performance of Leonard Cohen's classic song "Hallelujah," a superb example of a Canadian artist bring out the best in the work of a Canadian songwriter. This EP features three different performances of "Hallelujah" from k.d. lang: the version from the 2010 Winter Olympics, a studio recording that appeared on her 2004 album Hymns of the 49th Parallel, and another live take from the 2005 Juno Awards broadcast.

hallelujah, Vancouver Winter 2010 edition
One of the most, if not the most powerful performances by a vocalist at any live event---her range was incredible, her control bordered on unbelievable as her voice emerged from immensely steady depths, building to a powerfully upwardly sweeping resonance before soaring and falling in the most gently sweet, carefully balanced upper octaves. She transformed the stadium into a surrealistic dream, hypnotizing the live audience and captivating everyone lucky enough to see and hear her via the cameras' eyes. She stole the opening ceremonies without a doubt. As the multiple perspectives paused on the faces of the upcoming athletic stars one by one, and then backed off again to the technical light show, her voice continued its lilt in impossibly long haunting phrases. It was a performance that the audience clearly did not want to end. But inevitably she skillfully transitioned towards winding down as the ghosts from the floor beneath the stage separated, then ascended the audience to become doves in the sky as she ended the song as smoothly as she began it. This was a virtuoso performance and clearly classic KD Lang. it would be difficult to imagine anyone matching her utter triumph this night. This was a performance for the ages and captured in this one song everything that is so uniquely special about KD Lang.
k.d. lang kicked that song's butt.
I honestly didn't think I could hear one more rendition of Leonard Cohen's classic song, but k.d. lang brought tears to my eyes when she sang this song at the opening ceremonies tonight. Amazing.
Awesome
This bought goosebumps to my arms as I watched k.d Lang perform this at the Winter Olympics opening ceremony. A truly amazing performance and the absolute highlight of the ceremony for me.
