Light yet Deep
War Stories' newest effort, a post-album single called "Hangin' On" is a catchy, light, and pretty look at the political problems of the United States. It's light musically, with a very acoustic feel, (mostly just piano and acoustic guitar, though with some traditional War Stories synth-work). The song's catchiness exists in the chorus, as the singer voices earnestly that it is interpersonal love that keeps people afloat during times of such turmoil and despondency. The song's deepness, which I feel is the most important part of the song, lies in the verses, which talk about such things as "political hypocrisy" and a politician whose "skin ain't white." It's a song that questions politicians, and the public's motives for supporting certain presidential candidates. Most interesting is the song's sampling of political speeches by both McCain and Obama. This song is not necessarily a political statement for either candidate, but instead is a song supporting life, love, and asking people to think and care about the issues at stake. It asks people to expect more out of their leaders. Definitely a must-listen for any American living in such tumultuous and important times.

THIS IS AN AMAZING TRACK! This band's music always gives you a lil more than just lyrics and a beat; this is the perfect gift, not only for yourself, but for your friends as well; it's happy and upbeat, but realistic and very timely! Kudos to War Stories
