Album Review

El Gran Combo's follow-up to Unity (1980) is one of their most accomplished recordings; vocalists Charlie Aponte and Jerry Rivas truly excel in now-legendary material like "Amor Comprado," "A la Reina" (composed by Pedro Flores), the wickedly tasty "El Menu" (one of the most famous tunes), and "Timbalero" (showcasing Edgardo Morales' agile timbales solo). ~ José A. happy days

I remember this album when I was in high school.. And when no one in school like my faves, I thought Bandida & Todavia were the best dance songs around. Now 20 + years later those two songs are in their list of hits. I knew salsa then, and I still know it now

Awesome Recording

This is by far El Gran Combo's best Cd ever. All 8 songs are hot and spicy. To end it, they decided to put "Timbalero" so that you can go back and play it over and over. Released in 1981, I was still a small child and didn't know salsa like now and wish I was older back then to really enjoy it when it was first introduced. "La Preocupacion" is a song that reflects today's world as you are always worry about everything going up in price and what have you. "A La Reina" is a song that you must dedicate to the woman you love the most, nice tune. "El Menu" is powerful with its magnificent coro, " Y despues que le pongas salsa pa'mojar pa'mojar que le pongas salsa"...Truly salsa at its best. Your feet move by themselves and can't find a way to stay still. "A Natalia" is another tune that you can sing to a girl you like...This fantastic orquestra still performs today with the same favor as those days because most of the band it still intact. No other band has been with its core group as long as they have. I hear El Gran Combo is expensive to hire, so better save up first if you want them in your birthday party. Have fun listening to this awesome, powerful and happy recording!!!! Junster
