Album Review
Living Under June solidified Jann Arden's status as a hitmaker in Canada, and it also broke the American market open for her, thanks to the single "Insensitive." While her follow-up, Happy?, doesn't have anything quite as instantly catchy as that song, it does have a number of well-crafted, melodic, introspective songs confirming that Living Under June was not a fluke.

An Excellent Dance Mix
I absolutely loved this cd. The music has so much meaning, and you can tell that Jann really personalized it, and I think people really need to appreciate that! "Hangin' By a Thread" is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard. I also love "I Know You," "The Sound Of," "Shooting Horses," and "Leave Me Now." Jazz and Lyrical teachers, this is your cd!
Happy?...makes me happy
This is my favorite Jann Arden CD. I was hooked on Jann when I heard Insensitive in '95. I rushed out and bought Living Under June. A few years later, this CD with a woman sucking her thumb entered my view. I looked closer. I couldn't believe she had another CD out without my hearing anything about it. I instantly bought it without knowing what it sounded like. I haven't regretted buying it. My favorites are Leave Me Now, Holy Moses, Wishing That, Saved, Hangin' by a Thread, and The Sound Of. This is my favorite probably because I like deep, dark, insightful brooding lyrical music. If you like deeply insightful, heart-wrenching brooding lyrics and music, then this is for you. The reviewers who rate it low, rate it low because it is not Happy. That's why ? follows happy. She's questioning her happiness. There was the tip off that the nay sayers should had taken into account when they bought it.
Don't let the dumb picture fool you...
This is another great Jann album. I love the 12 string electric guitar on 'The sound of' I can't get enough of that song. I think this album isn't as good as 'Living under June' it is still a classic. The only one I don't care much for is Weeds.
