On their second studio offering, Five Finger Death Punch cook up a fierce feast that mixes alt-metal, thrash metal, groove metal, new wave of American death metal and even some of that sludgy ‘90s Black Sabbath-worshipping stoner metal into one big heavy metal burrito. “Dying Breed” explodes with singer Ivan Moody letting loose on some punchy phrases that are punctuated by his throaty gurgles and growls before changing masks on the catchy chorus, suddenly sounding like he could be related to Load-era James Hetfield. While this is the song that can easily get the mosh pit swarming like a whirlpool, the more accessible “Hard to See” brims over with infectious melodies and empathetic lyrics for the misunderstood teenage outcast. It's a much more memorable number, as is their surprising and awesome cover of classic-rock chestnut “Bad Company." With the lyrics “Do you take me for a fool/ How’s it feel to be a tool/ To me you’re just a cancer/ War is the answer,” the title track reveals that the band isn’t so much in favor of actual war, but rather the personal kind.

by uberman55Way of the fist was one of the first albums I listened to with screaming. It was a stepping stone that got me to stop listening to bands like Godsmack and started listening to bands like All That Remains and After The Burial and The Black Dahlia Murder. Now compared to the bands I listen to now, Five Finger Death Punch is not heavy at all, but I still enjoy listening to them alot. In my eyes, way of the fist is a classic album for me that I will always listen to. That being said I had very high hopes for War Is the answer. When Never Enough and the other bonus tracks were released, I knew FFDP would go in a different, commercial direction, and I was right.
But all hope is not lost, this album does have a couple tracks that belong on Way of the Fist, and others that don't, but are still dam good.
Now for the review. The best heavy songs that belong on Way of the Fist that fans of the first album will like are Dying Breed, Bulletproof, Falling In Hate, War is the answer, and the best song on the album- Burn it down!!!
Other songs that aren't heavy but still good are: Hard To See(mainstream as hell) Bad company(great cover), Crossing over, and the second best song on the album- NO ONE GETS LEFT BEHIND- with the best vocals Moody has ever done with FFDP.
So pick this up if you liked the first one, I guarantee you will accept it as normal, but songs like Far From Home, Falling in Hate, and My Own Hell lack the musicmanship they had on the first album. That why this album only gets 3/5

by Jart16This album is absolutely amazing... exactly what metal should be... More people should really like this stuff instead of terrible, corporate, mainstreem hip hop and "soft electronic" stuff.
Dying Breed - 9/10 - A great start to the album. The verses and the chorus provide a very nice contrast.
Hard To See - 8/10 - A pretty good song... tends to get a little repetitive in my opinion. Still a great attempt at all clean vocals
Bulletproof - 7.5/10 - Decent song... I personally don't like the lyrics and how they fit into the rhythm, but the contrast on the chorus makes up for it
No One Gets Left Behind - 9.5/10 - This is one of my favorites on the album. The chorus will get stuck in your head for days, and the heavy riffs give strength and power to this song. I wake up to this song on most mornings. It gets me pumped for the day.
Crossing Over - 7/10 - This one is decent... Not the most memorable one on the album.
Burn It Down - 7/10 - This one isn't my favorite on the album. Even though the guitar and growling is very good, the song is extremely repetitive
Far From Home - 9.5/10 - This was a pleasant surprise. This is also one of my favorites. I would have never expected FFDP to even attempt to make a slow song. However, they pulled it off perfectly. If more people liked this genre of music and realized how powerful this song is, it would be played at high school proms instead of some terrible sellout band like Nickelback.
Falling in Hate - 7/10 - This is the same story as Burn it Down. Great quality growling, drums, and guitar, but extremely repetitive
My Own Hell - 8.5/10 - This one is pretty good. It has mostly clean vocals with a very good flow. However, the riff at the very end of the sound sounds extremely familiar... almost like Disturbed's Down with the Sickness
Walk Away - 10/10 - This is my favorite song on the album. This one almost paints a movie-esque picture for me. The guitar is pleasing to the ear and goes with the lyrics very well. The lyrics sound like something one would shout to someone else who made them angry beyond belief.
Canto 34 - 9/10 - This one has no lyrics, but it really doesn't need any. The entire song is just one four-minute extremely technical guitar solo with backing instruments.
Bad Company - 7/10 - The singing and guitar are very good in this, however the lyrics are not very good at all. I really have no idea what this song is about. At one point, they even mention that "the Death Punch sound is a claim to fame". I never liked any songs where the band sung about themselves directly.
War Is the Answer - 9/10 - This is a great song to blow off some steam with. Plus, it's even humorous at times. (i.e. the "I'll slap you so ******* hard, it'll feel like you kissed a freight train")

by hollywood54There first album was one of my favorite album from last year and this one has to be topping my list for this year. This album realy shows off the wide range of lead singer Ivan Moody. Bulletproof to Far From Home just shows the range that this band has. You cant go wrong with this album this is a must buy of the year. Keep up the good work. 5FDP
