Excellent musical crafting
Listenning to this work for the first time, I was immediately reminded of hearing Emerson, Lake & Palmer's eponymous release four decades ago, --(yeah, I'm that old). The same level of musical intensity shines forth here as ELP's did in the prog genre's salad days. After hearing this wonderful body of music a number of times, I see Ephemeral Sun as playing the same darker part to Glass Hammer that ELP played all those years ago to a sometimes overly-manicured Yes. Perhaps a positive comparison might also be made to the more visceral orchestral work of Modest Mussorgsky as contrasted to that of the more predictable Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
All in all, this is a shining example of modern prog at its very best.
